Swami Vivekananda’s thought process and quotes

Swami Vivekananda’s fame:

Swami Vivekananda is known for many of  his works, sayings and spiritual thoughts. But there is one special incident he is widely known and admired  for, worldwide.

This particular incident occurred in 1893, in Chicago, America. This did not just won hearts of Indians but everybody’s heart was touched. It was the very first line of his speech and I quote, “Sisters and brothers of America.”

What do we understand by this? This aware us about the thinking of Swami Vivekananda and his thoughts. He very strongly believed that we all are same.

On the contrary it is the essence of all the Vedas in the Indian culture too. It means that there is no difference between all of us based on any criteria.

Swami Vivekananda’s story to analyze his thought process:

There is a story about Swami Vivekananda which takes us on another level of his thoughts and depicts the depth of his thinking.

When he was leaving for America, he went to Maa Sharda first, to take her blessings. He told her about his trip to America to share his learnings with people there.

He further asked about her approval. She replied and said, “Would you ,please pass the knife that is just next to you.” As asked, he took up the knife and passed it to her.

After this, she told him that then he could leave. He got surprised and asked her in curiosity, ‘’You did not take my test and just gave me the permission to leave? ‘’ Then she replied, ‘’ This knife that you just gave me was the test in itself.

If there was somebody else than you then one would have given it to me by facing it’s sharper side towards me and the handle, towards himself.

But you did the opposite, keeping in mind the safety of the other person. So, you are even ready to do your bad for the well-being of others. This assures that you are completely ready now .

Swami Vivekananda’s thought process:

Swami Vivekananda’s first and the most famous quote is , “Arise, awake and stop not until the goal is reached”

If we get into the depth of this quote then we will understand that this is being said to the ones who are in their comfort zone.

Who wanted  or wished for something but did not get it, so they gave up. This quote is directly applied on them. This further depicts that if you wanted something but could not achieve it due to any reason, then give up.

Don’t think that you can’t do anything, you can do everything that you can think of. This can be seen from two different sides.

The first one being, that do not stop until you or your family’s needs are not fulfilled. Until it is not, it is your goal.

The second is for the ones who mean to settle down, or to indulge in pleasure or to run behind power, money, etc. Because this is being said by none other than the one who left everything because of knowledge of self.

So, it means that however rich one may get, however far one may go to achieve his goals or even achieves them, one should never stop until he gets the knowledge of self.

This is because, it is the highest level of enlightenment. If you have not won yourself but everything, you have won nothing.
